SOS-HGIC Kutin Cup 2024

The Kutin Cup at SOS-HGIC was a highlight of the year, celebrating the school’s love for sports and competition. Teams prepared rigorously, showcasing their determination and strategic skills on the field. The event featured multiple sports, including soccer and basketball, drawing large crowds of enthusiastic supporters. The Kutin Cup was more than just a competition; it demonstrated teamwork, perseverance, and school spirit. As students battled for the coveted trophy, they also learned valuable lessons about leadership and collaboration, making the event a resounding success.

SOS-HGIC Interhostel Swimming Competition 2024

The Interhostel Swimming Competition was one of the most exciting events on the SOS-HGIC calendar this year. The competition featured participants from all hostels, each eager to showcase their skills and bring victory to their team. From thrilling relay races to intense individual events, the energy and enthusiasm were unmatched. The event also fostered sportsmanship and teamwork as students cheered for their peers, regardless of hostel affiliations.  Vikings emerged victorious as the overall champions of this year’s Inter-House Swimming Competition, with the Titans, Spartans, and Trojans close behind! It was a celebration of athleticism and community, leaving participants and spectators alike inspired.

SOS-HGIC National Day 2024

National Day celebrations at SOS-HGIC were a vibrant and meaningful occasion, bringing the entire school community together to honor the rich heritage of our diverse student body. The event featured a series of cultural performances, including traditional dances, songs, and dramatic pieces that reflected the diversity and unity of the school’s student body. Inspirational speeches from both students and staff emphasized the values of patriotism, responsibility, and collaboration. It was a day filled with pride, reflection, and celebration, reinforcing all participants’ sense of belonging and identity.  

SOS-HGIC Careers Day 2024

SOS-HGIC hosted a highly successful Careers Day, allowing students to connect with professionals, parents, and alumni from various industries. The event included panel discussions, workshops, and one-on-one interactions where experts shared insights into their career journeys, challenges, and successes. Students were encouraged to ask questions and explore how their interests and talents align with different career paths. This enriching experience not only broadened their understanding of potential opportunities but also motivated them to set ambitious goals for the future.

Elikem Asem shines at the STEM Olympiad, bringing home gold!

Elikem Asem, a DP1 student from SOS-HGIC, achieved remarkable success at the STEM Olympiad Grand Finals in The Hague, earning a prestigious gold medal. Competing against top students from around the world, Elikem’s dedication and passion for science and technology were evident as he excelled in every challenge. His achievement brings pride to SOS-HGIC and inspires fellow students to pursue excellence in STEM fields.

Margaret Nkrumah Day at SOS-HGIC

On the 25th of August, the SOS-HGIC community gathered to honour the legacy of founding Principal Margaret Nkrumah with an event themed “Pan Africanism – What it Means to Us Today.” The day featured insightful panel discussions and moving poetry performances, highlighting the relevance of Pan-Africanism in modern life. Distinguished speakers, including Dr. Edith Dankwa, Mr. Francis Appiah, and Dr. Mjiba Frehiwot, shared their expertise on media, business, finance, and academia, emphasizing the importance of unity, economic empowerment, and education within the Pan-African movement. Decoding Success: SOS-HGIC Class of 2024’s Phenomenal University Acceptance Rate and Scholarship Offers

The 2023/2024 application season has been highly successful for the Class of 2024 students, with 119 universities admitting them. They submitted over 953 applications to 16 countries, resulting in scholarship offers currently totaling over 1.704 million dollars in financial support.  SOS-HGIC Class of 2024’s Phenomenal University Acceptance Rate and Scholarship Offers Notable achievements include three students admitted to US Ivy League schools: two into Dartmouth and one into Princeton. They also gained admissions into several other prestigious US universities such as Swarthmore, Middlebury, Pomona, Emory, Haverford, Davidson, Amherst, Rice, Union, and University of Rochester.
