Empowering the Future: SOS-HGIC Alumni Spearhead GhanaCodes Initiative
In a remarkable display of knowledge in the service of Africa, two distinguished alumni of SOS-Hermann Gmeiner International College (HGIC), Kwesi Afrifa and Adwoa Afrifa, returned to their alma mater to share their journey and introduce an innovative project during a recent school assembly. The dynamic duo, having graduated in 2020, are currently making waves in the academic realms of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Princeton University, respectively.
Kwesi Afrifa and Adwoa Afrifa came together to present a groundbreaking initiative they have been actively involved in – GhanaCodes. This transformative project brings together a group of passionate and skilled alumni to create a 3-week residential summer program. The primary goal of GhanaCodes is to introduce prospective and current high school students to the world of programming and algorithm design and analysis.
The duo’s presentation highlighted the immersive experience that GhanaCodes promises to offer, focusing on training students’ algorithmic thinking abilities. This approach is designed to provide a universal foundation for problem-solving in the field of Computer Science, instilling the confidence required to navigate the ever-evolving tech industry successfully.
