The school’s commitment to Internationalism is expressed in our ability to embrace attitudes, activities, and relationships that demonstrate tolerance, an acceptance of and respect for other cultures, an awareness of the needs of others, an interest and involvement in the major issues facing the world, a commitment to the preservation of our environment and planet, an active promotion of worldwide peace and harmony, and an open-minded and fair approach, among many others.
To promote our commitment to internationalism through global connections our students and teachers have participated in international exchange programmes with schools such as Lillestrom Vinderegaende Skole (VGS) Norway, Philips Exeter Academy, New Hampshire, USA, St Andrews Episcopal School, Mississipi, USA and several others. In the past academic year due to COVID restrictions students have participated in virtual exchanges in a variety of arenas such as the Warwick African Summit, ALA Model African Conference, Georgetown University Qatar MUN Conference, Wharton Global Youth Conference, Yale Young Global Scholars Program, Oxford Cambridge Yale Summer School among many others. In addition, SOS HGIC students have won accolades in competitions such as the Kibo Math and Mise Math Competition.
These interactions allow students to engage with their student counterparts from around the world on issues of global significance by listening and learn from the views of others. After such engagements, students make connections that transcend the HGIC community. The College ensures that students and staff are given the opportunity and support to hone their talents and interest in various areas via our International Exchanges Program.
