Her Honour, Klorkor Okai-Mills

Klorkor Okai-Mills was sworn in on 23rd May, 2023 as a Circuit Court Judge and currently sits in Circuit Court ‘B’ Tema. She, practiced immigration law in the United States before returning home to Accra, Ghana, in 2010 to head the Human Rights Office of the institution/NGO, “the Projects Abroad”. After being called to the Ghana Bar in October 2010, she worked with the internationally reputed firm, Bentsi Enchill, Letsa and Ankomah. Subsequently, she joined the reputed Ghana Armed Forces Legal Department as an Assistant Director, Legal Services. It was from that position that she was appointed to the post of Judge Advocate in the Office of the Judge Advocate General (JAG) of the Ministry of Defence of Ghana from June 2013 to May 2023.
Apart from her official duties, Okai-Mills is on the Advisory Council of the Accrabased Historical and Cultural Society of Ghana (HACSA), a Foundation founded to promote and celebrate African Heritage and Culture and the achievement of
peoples of African Descent. Additionally, she is a Director of the Nygard Foundation, an NGO invested in early childhood education and environmental sustainability based in Accra.
She holds a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from the Villanova University School of Law, Pennsylvania, USA and an undergraduate degree from Temple University, Philadelphia PA, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in Political Science and History with distinction. In that same year, she was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, US (2003) for exceptional academic achievement in Arts and Science. She was also elected and inducted into Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society, US (May 2002) and into Phi Alpha Theta, the National History Honor Society, US (May 2002). She was called to the New Jersey Bar (USA) in 2008 and to the Ghana Bar in 2010. She is a member of the
American Bar Association and the Ghana Bar Association. She is married with three children and also a proud Sunday school teacher at the Accra Ridge church.
