MYP Authorization Announcement

SOS-Hermann International College (SOS-HGIC) is delighted to announce that we have received official authorization to offer Years 4 and 5 of the  International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP), as an IB World School. Our official announcement came in October 2020, after the verification visit which took place in September 2020.

Having offered the IB Diploma Programme (IB DP) since 1993, our MYP authorization allows us to focus on providing our students with the best possible preparation for the DP and beyond. We are now able to create a seamless four-year academic education for our students with one consistent philosophy.

The visiting team members shared useful feedback which helped us to celebrate our journey so far: we were encouraged to identify ways in which we could consolidate the gains made while looking for opportunities to further strengthen the programme. We are grateful to the entire IB team for the immense support during our candidacy and authorization phase.

The entire school community has remained committed through this rigorous process of learning about the programme. We have also remained steadfast in developing and implementing the MYP. Indeed, preparing for a verification visit during the COVID-19 pandemic was challenging but we were resilient. The team commended staff, students and parents for putting in so much work; they averred that the visit was successful. Our staff have been able to, and will continue to model life-long learning for our students.

We realize that receiving our authorization is the beginning of an even more rewarding journey and we remain committed to developing the MYP at SOS-HGIC.
